Rubber mats used on floors, playgrounds, and doorsteps are produced through a controlled process called vulcanisation. Natural rubber forms the major component of the compound, blended with small proportions of curing chemicals, fillers, and accelerators.
This mixture is sheeted and heated up to around 150 °C. Moulds and tooling are designed to create artistic surface patterns, drainage textures, or antiskid designs. Custom moulds can be made for specialised applications or branding. The vulcanised mats exhibit high durability, resilience, and resistance to wear and weather.
Their surface can also be painted or coated with colours to enhance appearance and match décor requirements.
